A special thank you to The William C. Graustein Donor Advised Fund at The Chicago Community Foundation
We’re officially full for this session!
Our Spring session filled up quickly, and we’re so excited about the response from the community.
If you’re hoping to join a future session, want to be considered if any spots open up, or are interested in a potential Fall program, we encourage you to add your child’s name to the waitlist.
Thank You to Our STEM Trailblazers
In 2025, our inaugural EmpowHER: Girls in STEM cohort was made possible through the generous support of The Guilford Fund for Education. Their investment helped launch a program that sparked curiosity, creativity, and confidence in the next generation of innovators.
The excitement and enthusiasm from participants, volunteers, and the community made it clear just how needed this work is. Because of that support, we’ve been able to return with new cohorts — and the continued demand reminds us that this is only the beginning.
We’re grateful to everyone who helped bring EmpowHER to life and excited to keep growing what comes next. The future looks bright — and it’s powered by STEM.

Dr. Megan Linske, P.h.D. is a scientist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, specializing in tick ecology and disease prevention. She combines research with public education to make science accessible and engaging.

A multi-session program designed for 5th and 6th grade girls to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on learning experiences that build curiosity, confidence, and connection. Participants engage in interactive activities, collaborative projects, and real-world exploration while being introduced to a variety of STEM concepts in a supportive, community-centered environment.
As a program of Women & Family Life Center, EmpowHer: Girls in STEM reflects W&FLC’s mission of strengthening individuals and families through connection, encouragement, and access to opportunity. The small-group setting allows participants to explore STEM in a way that prioritizes confidence, collaboration, and belonging. The program is enriched by community volunteers who share their experiences and career pathways in STEM, helping participants better understand the many possibilities these fields can offer.
EmpowHer: Girls in STEM encourages creativity, problem-solving, and self-confidence, empowering girls to see themselves as capable learners and future innovators.
